West Somerset Railway

We are brilliantly located for our local heritage Steam Railway.  Starting from Bishops Lydeard, just a few minutes down the road, it runs to the seaside at Minehead stopping at Dunster and Watchet amongst other places en-route.

There is a regular service, and Driver Experience days for enthusiasts.

June 8th– 10th                     Diesel Gala – celebrating  heritage diesel traction from the 1970's and 80's, when a variety of Diesel locomotive types were employed to transport holiday makers and day trippers to the seaside.

July 25th                The 41st Dunster Country Fair is held in the picturesque setting of Dunster Castle Lawns. Attractions will include the Shetland Pony Grand National, British Scurry & Trials Driving Arena Challenge, The Kangaroo Kid, Hawkeye Falconry UK.


August 17th          Dunster Show is the premier Agricultural Show in West Somerset and one of the major one day Shows of the West of England. Taking place on the Lawns below Dunster Castle the dramatic backdrop is a perfect setting for a family day out.

Mineral Railway

Explore the historic Incline and Winding house in the Brendan Hills and follow the route of the old mining railway down to Watchet Harbour.

Roastery Tours at Miles Tea & Coffee in Porlock


Watch the full roasting process from green to roasted bean and take home a bag of coffee hot off the roaster! Tours usually run on the last Thursday of the month, £7 per person, limited to 10 people and are very popular!

Thursday 26th April, Thursday 28th June, Wednesday 25th July, Thursday 30th August & Thursday 27th September.
